What poor sleep often looks like
Short restless nights are common. Ongoing trouble falling asleep, waking often, or waking unrefreshed is worth a proper conversation with a clinician.
A longer pattern
When poor sleep lasts for weeks, pain, low mood, anxiety, or a medicine side effect may be involved. That needs a GP or pharmacist review, not an online basket of sleeping pills.
Habits before any medicine
Keep the bedroom for sleep. Get daylight in the morning. Move during the day. Leave screens outside the last half hour. If alcohol is how you fall asleep, it usually fragments the night later.
Cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia, often called CBT-I, is a first-line talking approach used in the NHS. Our pharmacists can explain what a GP referral involves. We do not replace that therapy.
